Black crow

the black crow, fear, has arrived again.
hawking large black wings arrive one by one.
like shadow it is silent when it arrives.
even air feels colder. or have I imagined it?

familiar, though, it is.
a lonely path one must take to the world,
I wonder what will be at the end of this tunnel
may it be hope.
may it be hope.

Dreams

when you decide to fly,
what you notice first is
darkness underneath your feet

telling you “I’ve been there, it’s all gonna work out”
isn’t going to sound much help
ease that brewing cold anxiety

but look into my eyes:
I show you that I lived through my fair share
what yours will be, let it be the world to show you

brother, dream.
dream big.
big enough to rule this fear.
I believe in you.

Unchangeable

scenery before my eyes
blossoms into different shapes
heights, color, and, yes, scents.
with just a flick of a finger
with a grave weight.

Mind you, the weight of this act.
Let alone the sceneries,
mountains, oceans, and people,
thousands of millions of people
were passed by in a blink of an eye.

Yet remember;
remember regardless of this change.
the soft, unbreakable part of you
that you left behind.

also, remember your vow you made
in a blissful, youthful ignorance
to achieve what you’ve promised.
those bold promises you made
don’t let it go awashed into shade.

and lastly,
remember the love.
remember to love.

Droplets

if my actions were droplets,
please let it be the ones of many that
shape the curve in the stone
for you to enjoy a respite under the shadow
please let it be the quiet budding of leaves
for you to enjoy the sound of ocean
as you cool off the heat in summer breeze
please let it be one step of the many
to travel this far distance to reach to you
to be there when you need someone
if my actions were droplets,
please let these be so.

Cool down

take another minute looking at the mirror
you might see something’s off
really, take it in and think.
in your eyes, see that there’s something burning
the way you tighten your jaws, raise the eyebrow,
and tighten your lips might be saying something
before it leaks through words and actions,
take a break.
take the emergency exit to respite
and take a deep breath. in. then out.
it might be no so bad after all.

Finishing line

have I done it?
have I made it to the finishing line?
or is this rather an illusion
for yet another revision?
I enjoy this journey; yes, I truly do
but I do crave for a good respite
to not having to gear up for a battle
with my laptop keyboard
to defend for my inspiration
just a tidbit rest, and I’ll be back to this game again
so if you could answer:
have I done it?

Price

when I run into a mishap
I wonder what bad thing I had done in the past.
when a hair follicle falls from my head,
when a ball of ice-cream falls from my cone,
or when I was supposed to be on a Zoom meeting an hour ago,
I dig into my memory bag,
looking for a piece of memory
where I had to apologize.
then it feels rather fair;
the world we live in.
