As we walked the streets we walked decades ago,
thoughts I had pushed far back in my mind
started to resurface, and as the brown dried leaves fell
words started to cascade into reality.
I do not concern myself with forgiveness
but your acceptance of the truth
alleviated the weight I held on for so long.
When I lay my head for one last time
I will remember what you have given me
as I hope I will be remembered for what I sought to give.
