Black crow

the black crow, fear, has arrived again.
hawking large black wings arrive one by one.
like shadow it is silent when it arrives.
even air feels colder. or have I imagined it?

familiar, though, it is.
a lonely path one must take to the world,
I wonder what will be at the end of this tunnel
may it be hope.
may it be hope.

Droplets

if my actions were droplets,
please let it be the ones of many that
shape the curve in the stone
for you to enjoy a respite under the shadow
please let it be the quiet budding of leaves
for you to enjoy the sound of ocean
as you cool off the heat in summer breeze
please let it be one step of the many
to travel this far distance to reach to you
to be there when you need someone
if my actions were droplets,
please let these be so.

Communication

words seem to fail me, brother.
I might have said something too harsh unwittingly.
But all I want to say is I do care about you.
family look after each other, you know.
I do hope you will thrive,
rise through obstacles and strive in this world.
brother, it is alright to take a rest once in awhile.
try a bit of faith in me when I say:
‘I’ve got your back’

Friend

I hope you manage to keep having fun.
Have that free spirit of wanderlust
those rebellious eyes, searching for trouble,
and unrelenting drive to get up again
and go for another round of fight.
But those moments of seriousness:
the sorrow, the anger, the fear;
I hope you can let them go once in a while.
I appreciate you. Not just for what you do,
but for being you.
I hope you keep having fun in this world.
It’d be good to see you again, my friend.

Evolve

perhaps, as all living things must do, we must evolve.
transcend above all our inclinations,
all our predictable fallacies,
and all our habits,
and sublimate everything we have to the next level
to a level unknown before
to a level at which a hindsight of present day
would make it look so foolish.
perhaps, as all living things must do, we must evolve.

Ground

small awkward pause before glancing away.
a feigned cough, and clearing of throat.
a little shift to the side of the seat.
in a library, in a zoom meeting. in a gym,
there’s a paper cut for every encounter.
is it the smell? is it the look? is it the wording?
a thought chews on another thought.
I wondered what makes a good sound,
but then I realized it didn’t matter at all
if you lose your ground.

Talk

it was a good day to have a talk.
the wind blew like blue ocean waves
sweeping across green tree bushes,
scattering golden light through its paths.
air was clear, sky was spotlessly sweet blue,
river was filled with fish swimming serenely.
perhaps a perfect peace, a piece of heaven abound.
walking on this path with you
perhaps this will be one of the most memorable moment
one that I’ll cherish for a long time from now.

Guidance

Dear kid,

pour your heart out. it’s gonna be alright.
With questions of friendships, identity, and self-worth,
try letting your grip soften up a little
instead of sitting in the middle of the street,
try walking, singing the song of your own anthem
beating your heart to your own rhythm
march on. be fearless.
and it’s okay to crash and fail.
it’s okay to do nothing at all.
whatever contends your heart,
try it all.
your answer may lie near you.
