Chocolate

Everyone loves it.

A white hair woman with magnifying glasses and stage one breast cancer who doesn’t like taking chemotherapy pills likes it.

A bald man with a boisterous laughter after a gaudy joke about his deployment to Korea in the 60s likes it.

It’s a little something we look forward to.

It connects us all with a bit of a smile.

Humor

I laughed, because it was so sad;
I don’t know how else to deal with it.
bone-crashing depression is an oxymoron
but it hurts real bad, so you laugh to lift it up
it’s truly funny sometimes, how the life goes.
I am just grateful I can laugh with people I love.
I am humbled by their openness to accept my jokes.
that’s where I find the courage
to look forward to the future unknown.

Hi

it’s as effortless as a hot knife
cutting through a block of butter
it’s as natural as peanut butter
in between sandwich breads
it’s as predictable as the moon
and the sun greeting each other

sometimes,
people you thought you’d click don’t click;
people you never expected to click do click.
in a world of chase for power
and yearning for innocent connection
we are torn to make a decision.
may you make the wisest decision.
even if you don’t,
I hope you will work towards
a future you’ll feel like yourself.
sleep tight.

Spark

I felt how warm a human presence can be.
although it may have been possible to ignore
and move on with their lives
I am grateful for taking me in as part of family.
the smile, the laughter, and moving stories
although it was just over a cup of coffee
we had much to share, much to celebrate
I want to work hard and meet them again
this was all worth the hardships.

Shedding

have you no fear of loneliness?
then perhaps, people shedding is your thing.
shedding away people who don’t
see you as you are,
or do see you as you are,
and choose to severe ties anyways

like a meteor shedding away
impure addendums in stratosphere
gliding ever faster, with an ease,
exploding every second with peace

live your life the way you can
let the stars collide
be that as it may turn into a star
or a black hole engulfing all

City Bus

There’s a blue sanitary glove laying on a seat inside out

All these people in this city but don’t seem to notice it

A hispanic mother checks her thick purple lipstick on her selfie as her daughter stares blankly into her doll.

A elderly white woman – a blue shirt inside and a checkered shirt on her out side – pulls out her iPhone 5 from her white polka dotted red handbag. On her left arm, she has an Apple Watch. Her right arm is ballooned like a hot dog. Perhaps it’s swellig because of blood clots in blood vessel. The thin wrinkled old lady’s body seemed to have taken a toll for all the hard work she has done to get that handbag, Apple Watch, and her iPhone.

Two black men with red caps on, one has a shirt aloha captain fin

Two college freshmen girls singing in the back seat think out loud how great they hard.

In the cacophony, we go from A to B. Er- perhaps we have not even met.
