I opened my door,
and let the crisp fall breeze enter the room.
I saw the sky was mild blue empty of clouds
I knew not what lied over the horizon
but I knew I must start walking
I took a step.
it was cold, shriveling my skin
but I took another step
because I knew I had to.
I tried to look up at the sky
hoping to see the moon and the stars
because I knew I had to move.

when I woke up,
I felt an ocean breeze
and thought of the thin lips of yours
that slightly curved up as you smiled
brushing dark hair over ears with a curled hand
It made me happy to wake up.
It made me hope for another day.

I thought your message was clear
like an echo bouncing from mountains
when I shout a call for a meeting;
empty, and no chance of ever seeing again
so it’s an unexpected surprise,
when there is a blazing trail of messages
laid out to read, but these are illegible
please, give me something, something clear
I’ve been shouting all this time
now my voice is harsh and heart is vulnerable
please show the sign to this eyes,
and I’ll make your time worth it.

turn the other cheek, I learned.
but it’s so hard to do
when it is a wounded creature
determined to wound others
and drop poisons in gardens to survive
should this be a calling for a rise to a need
I shall go forth and deal with this creature
though for I don’t know what future holds
I pray that I will come back safe and sound
I hope there will be happiness in the end

I do enjoy basking in the warm glow
as you brighten up with joy
I do sincerely wish for your well-being
age is a strange thing, you see
in an older eyes, all appears to be seen
pride from ignorance, lust for violence,
all foolishness, and idiosyncratic conscience
yet, let the lips be sealed,
and see what the world has to show
what such person may behave.

you were always there
in times of hardship
in times of peace
no matter what others say
no matter what you had to go through
hang on with me just a little longer
we are pushing ahead for another run
it won’t be the last,
and no guarantee we’ll come back
but at least we are in this together.

and act on what you can change
prepare for what may be hard to change
it’s a trick of the mind you need to see through
when you walk through dark tunnel
under the weight of an ocean

I sense softeness in it
I also see its scorching heat
beyond words, beyond what can be seen
