Rise

this isn’t the time to fall asleep
this isn’t a time for a self-pity
it’s time to see the world as it is
and act on what you can change
prepare for what may be hard to change

it’s a trick of the mind you need to see through
when you walk through dark tunnel
under the weight of an ocean
I wish you a safe journey.

The sun

It’s hard to describe:
it’s too bright to see
but I feel it is warm
I sense softeness in it
I also see its scorching heat
beyond words, beyond what can be seen
I believe.
it is there.
And I walk into the darkness
with the faith in my heart
and hope it will guide me the way.
it is a leap of faith.

Symphony

blinded by vast horizon full of minuscule particles

lying beneath abysmally dark night sky,

I close my eyes and feel for the passing breeze,

carrying a scent, a dream-like hint, slipping into my eyes,

closed yet listening, tracing threads, weaving

a multivariate symphony of breaths,

humming and purring comfortably into the mystery.

Resting butterfly

A butterfly sat on a table across from me
I stared at it; it back at me
for a moment, we sat still; just staring.
I stared at it so intently that
I felt like I could feel shivers in its wings.
then it flew; and what I could describe as levity,
I felt. As the world whirled and bobbed,
I could find joy in my heart.
then it flew and flew, far enough
where my mere physical sight could not reach
and when I knew it was gone
I made a song
to commemorate our encounter.

Lasting graces

let us sweat when we can;
build the work that may go unseen
help that may not be reciprocated
though there are many sweets and beauts
I know who I am; and what I am called to:
the reason to raise the body from the ground
the joy in the hustle with fellow companions
and appreciation of small things
such as the whistle of a bird
amongst breezy autumn forest
glorious descent of graceful sun through horizon
I am humbly thankful for these graces.
