Road

when I woke up,
I had a fragment of a memory
as if something had blown up
“what have I done?” was my inquiry

I recall:
some words spilled out.
nonchalant, I thought.
but they were explosive,
at least to those around.

how words trace back to the lips
like dark footsteps in white snow
how dangerous those words can be
like black ice, biding its time for revenge

Black crow

the black crow, fear, has arrived again.
hawking large black wings arrive one by one.
like shadow it is silent when it arrives.
even air feels colder. or have I imagined it?

familiar, though, it is.
a lonely path one must take to the world,
I wonder what will be at the end of this tunnel
may it be hope.
may it be hope.

Bicycle

Pedaling on a blue bike, paean of breezy winds bumping along the road

Rumbling sounds of SUVs and pick up trucks passing by, rowdy kids jumping into the lake half naked

Roaring laughter fading away, riding down a long lonely road in between the animate and inanimate nature

Blazing through a carpet of gold laden by the bleeding yolk of the sunset

Rolling stone within the heart spins faster and faster, unleashing the monster hunkered for a thousand of years

Then — whirl — and — crash.

A reaper stands on the door expressionlessly peaking its bald skull over the door sill.

Like a dusky cloud on a simple summer night.

24 hours

At first, it’s too long,

Then later, it’s too short.

Just as you’ve turned your 4th page of your moleskin notebook with a pilot G-2 0.5 pen,

It’s 7:30 PM and now you push the floor away from your chest as hard as you can

Then a question arises: “is an isolation a poison?”

Panic sinks in, four limbs plunging in

To the ocean of screens spinning in

The seconds, minutes, hours, and days

But remember, the time won’t stay.

Runner

Keep on running,

do not look back. It is the life that we have been born to live,

do not turn, just run.

it will swallow the whole thing and then everything will be over in a second

run

run

just keep on running

when the sunrise,

we can catch a breath

life resumes at the sunrise

we will live on

so now,

just run

run.

Candor

When the gentle breeze in the dusk

Calls me to the path I’d taken long ago,

I’ll go. Pack my suites and a wristwatch

Notebook and a pen in my hand.

I’d trudge through the dark night

Content in companions of stars and a moon

I’d silently walk the road alone again

Bracing for the unknown.

When the sun starts to rise, I’d thank

For being alive, of having seem the light

And keep relaxed but steady gaze forward

When the sun is up high and blazing

Peacefully, as if nothing cold happened

I’d throw a quick glance at back when

the sun starts to set over the horizon of

The ocean beach or clouds over mountains

Smile a smile just to smile.
